Mayor Daley has proclaimed January 27th the first ever Concierge Day in Chicago! And why not?The city’s conciergesoffer more than five million referrals each year to Chicago’s various cultural attractions, restaurants, nightspots and shopping suggestions.Chicago’s concierges love to share their passion for the city with all who visit. So it’s only appropriate to designate a day to formally pay tribute for all they do to make Chicago the world class destination it is.
So in honor of Concierge Day, we asked our beloved concierge Wallace what he would enjoy most on the day dedicated to him.His response was to “be on top of Chicago”.And that’s just where we went…to the John Hancock Observatory! One thousand feet above Chicago! Not onlywas it voted the “best view in the city”; it also boasts Chicago’s only open-air skywalk, the highest cafe in the city, the fastest elevators in North America and now the world’s highest ice skating rink! All in one building!Of course, with a 360° degree view into 4 different states – Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana & Illinois – it’s no wonder the Hancock Observatory is considered a “must-see”.But rather than tell you, we think it’s best to show you!
**As part of the Concierge Day in Chicago, we decided to highlight this special day in our Wallace, Windy City & You contest! We’ve received a lot of responses with some GREAT Chicago tips! But there can only be one winner of the day with Wallace and it is….
Jen Cook Hardman, who told us “When traveling to Chicago, enjoy the delicious lunch buffet at the top of the John Hancock for under $20 per person and take in the amazing view of downtown and Lake Michigan for free!”
Thank you to all who sent us their Chicago tips!YOU are what makes Chicago great!**
