Where’s Wallace September

Beluga Wallace...errr, Whales
More than 32,500 animals, in over 3 million gallons of water and home to the world’s oldest fish in any aquarium, it can only be the Shedd Aquarium. This Chicago institution opened in 1930 and has since gone on to double its size and attract more than 2 million visitors each year! Explore creatures of the Amazon, get face to face with sharks in a Wild Reef, see beluga whales and dolphins dance in the Fantasea Show, or play one-on-one with a penguin! And thats just what I did! Wallace Has A New Friend

The Shedd offers several different ‘Extraordinary Experiences’ such as their Beluga Encounter or Trainer for a Day program. But once I heard about the chance to get up close and personal with a penguin, I couldn’t resist. So I went behind the scenes for a day to meet and learn all about the Magellanic Penguin. Our friendly trainer told us about how a penguin likes to ‘preen’ it’s feathers to make sure their tuxedos stay nice and neat. But boy was I surprised when the penguin tried to preen ME! Gotcha!

I had such a great time at the Shedd Aquarium and can’t wait to go back. And now Best Western River North Hotel makes it even easier for you and your family to plan your own adventures at the Shedd Aquarium. You can pick up specially discounted VIP Shedd tickets at our front desk and skip the lines.
