Now that March is here, Chicago will begin it’s annual thaw as it prepares for the arrival of spring. The snow will melt away, tulips will soon be blooming on the Magnificent Mile and picnics will be enjoyed on the lawn of Millenium Park. But if March was to be defined by one Chicago tradition, it would undeniably be the St. Patrick’s Day Parade! With it’s rich Irish heritage, Chicago celebrates the day in style.Marking the start of the celebration is the annual ’Dyeing of the Chicago River’ that brings a festive green color running through the heart of the city. Immediately following is the kick-off of one of the nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day Parades. Catch all the fun on Saturday March 12th, starting at 10am!
If you’d prefer a more traditional start to the spring season in Chicago, head over to Navy Pier for the annual Chicago Flower & Garden Show March 5th – March 13th! See over 30 different gardens designed by the country’s top landscapers. From exotic flowers and plants to more common foliage, visitors will leave the Chicago Flower & Garden Show feeling inspired with phenomenal garden and landscaping ideas!
