Open Books and Glee at This Year’s Revelry

What’s The Deal?

Imagine a night of wonderful food, conversation, cocktails and sophistication, and games and prizes. Now add to that a great nonprofit that’s benefiting from all the fun you’re having! That’s exactly what you’ll find at Revelry, Open Books’ largest annual fundraiser.

Open Books, of course, is a nonprofit in our own neighborhood aimed at promoting literacy in Chicago and beyond. Their bookstore and events like Revelry help them to run workshops and programs for students in Chicago’s public schools and elsewhere.

This year’s Revelry was held at Catalyst Ranch, an eclectic space with a bit of a hip flare. We attended this year and experienced Super-Sized Scrabble (we know, awesome right?), a Silent Auction for some major prizes, a Green Screen Photo Booth – we took our photo on a tropical island – and a Phantom Ticket Booth with randomly drawn prizes in unmarked envelopes.

All of this adds up to a great fundraiser for us – the guests – as well as Open Books’, who raised over $40,000 this year.

How We Help

Our own Best Western Plus River North Hotel received runner-up honors in the competition for board members and the planning committee to see who could raise the most in donated goods, ticket sales, monetary donations, and auction purchases. And at the beginning of next month, our staff will take a volunteer day and go over to Open Books’ bookstore and offices to lend a hand.

Interested in Open Books and how our hotel is involved? Come stay with us and see! BEST WESTERN PLUS River North Hotel, the only downtown Chicago hotel with Free Parking.
